Some Special Christmas Dresses!

I always make something special for my children to wear at Christmas, and having twin daughters really lets me go a bit all out and do something fun!

I started with a self-drafted bodice in some fun Christmas print quilting cotton from Spotlight I wanted the bodice to be very plain so that I could stitch embellishments onto it and added some loops to create a ribbon crossed back to fasten.

The base of the skirt is a lovely sage green linen simply cut as a rectangle the width of the fabric and gathered onto the base of the bodice.

I had a lot of fun embellishing the bodices of the dresses with small pieces of lace, vintage buttons, and braids.

I also layered the skirts with lace and tulle, gathered and stitched onto the linen.

And finished with some vintage brads and motifs, ribbons and bows.

Merry Christmas from my little Christmas angels

Until next time, happy sewing
