If embroidering your bookmark do so on the initial fabric, before cutting out your pieces.
Interface both sides of your bookmark.
Pin one end of your elastic to the end of the bookmark (in line with the notch). The elastic and bookmark piece should be right sides together with ends matching (see photo). Repeat on other side of bookmark piece.
Sew elastic on .8cm away from edge.
Pin other bookmark piece on-top of the piece with elastic attached, right sides together (enclosing elastic).
Sew around edges leaving a 9cm hole on one of the long sides.
Cut off corners (being careful not to cut the stitches) and trim seams to .5cm.
Turn bookmark out through hole. Poke corners out with a point turner or chopstick.
Press bookmark, ensuring the edges near the hole are neatly tucked inside.
Attach your Narrow Edge Foot (P8211420-96) and move your needle 2.5 to the left. Increase the Stitch Length to 3.0. Stitch around all sides of your bookmark, with the blade of the foot against the edge of the fabric. This will close the hole and finish the bookmark. Ensure the elastic is pulled to the side (not under the foot) in this step.
